kiira

Build for the kopitiam, not the KLSE.

Kiira is a small, remote-first team building a WhatsApp-native bookkeeping app for Malaysia's 996,000 micro-businesses. We hire people who can write good English, ship work they're proud of, and turn up in person when the work asks for it.

How we work

We're a small team. That means the rules are few, but the ones we have, we don't bend.

01

Remote-first, in-person when it matters.

Most days you work from wherever you are. You show up in person when the work needs it — an SMB event, a shoot, a customer visit — not because a meeting was booked.

02

Good English is the baseline.

We write a lot — to each other, to customers, in public. Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese are a bonus; English that doesn't need editing is the bar.

03

We don't invent numbers.

Whether it's a receipt amount or a paid-ads report, we say what we know, flag what we don't, and never round to look better.

04

Ship, read, fix, repeat.

Nothing we publish — code, a post, a demo — is the final draft. We ship the honest version, watch what happens, and fix what's off.

What's on offer

Competitive pay.

We benchmark against Malaysian tech salaries, not the NGO rate. If we make you an offer, it's one you don't need to negotiate up from the floor.

Work from home.

No assigned seat, no office commute. Travel shows up only when the role needs it — and it's expensed, not out-of-pocket.

Selangor public holidays.

We follow the Selangor calendar — Hari Raya, Deepavali, CNY, the lot. Religious/personal leave is approved by default, not by exception.

Kit you actually need.

Laptop, phone plan, camera gear (where relevant), software licences. Tell us what the job needs, we buy it.

A small team, close to the work.

You'll talk to the founder every week, see customer messages in Slack, and know within a month whether what you're doing is moving the needle.

Learning on the clock.

A budget for courses, conferences, and books. Two hours a week is yours to spend on sharpening whatever you're behind on.

What we don't offer (yet)

We'd rather be honest now than disappoint you in month two.

A fancy office.

We don't have one. If you need a desk outside your home, we'll cover a co-working plan.

A ladder of titles.

We're small. Your title is what the job actually is — growth shows up in scope and pay, not in adding 'Senior' to your email signature.

Share options on day one.

Equity is on the roadmap. If that matters to you up-front, say so and we can talk about what we can offer now vs later.

How to apply

Send a short email to [email protected]. Tell us which role, link a CV or LinkedIn, and — this is the bit most candidates skip — show us one thing you've made. A post, a deck, a video, a walkthrough. Anything that lets us see your taste.
