About the role

Kiira's target audience lives on TikTok and Instagram in the evening and on XiaoHongShu (小红书) at lunch. Our job is to meet them there with content that's honest, short, and useful — not another finfluencer shouting at them to automate their books.

You'll own the calendar, voice, and shipping cadence across five platforms. You won't be handed a brand guideline and told to execute — you'll help write it. The first three months are about finding what works; after that, the role becomes scaling what does.

We're not chasing vanity metrics. We care about: (1) business owners telling us they came from a specific post, (2) comments that show people understood the product, (3) content we're still proud of a year later.

What you'll do

  • Own the content calendar across TikTok, Instagram (Reels + feed), XiaoHongShu, Facebook, and YouTube (Shorts + long-form).
  • Shoot and edit short-form yourself — phone-first, fast turnaround. Not everything needs to look like a Super Bowl ad.
  • Write scripts, hooks, captions, and community replies in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Chinese (or brief a translator who will, if one of those isn't yours).
  • Plan and run on-location shoots — with customers, at events, in kopitiams, in accountants' offices. Brief the freelancers, direct the day.
  • Partner with the Brand Ambassador to turn events into content, and with engineering to turn product updates into stories people can follow.
  • Manage a small roster of collaborators — a freelance editor, a motion designer, the occasional influencer partnership.
  • Read the analytics weekly, share what worked and what didn't in plain English, and adjust the plan accordingly.
  • Keep the brand voice consistent: warm, direct, Malaysian, never condescending.

What we look for

  • Good English, written and spoken. At least one of Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese (Mandarin, with some ability in Cantonese a bonus) close to native. We're asking people to trust us with their bookkeeping — the language has to feel right.
  • A portfolio. Links to accounts or campaigns you've owned, with honest numbers and the story behind them. Quality and taste weigh more than follower counts.
  • Hands-on with the crafts: comfortable behind a camera, fluent in CapCut or Premiere, know your way around the XiaoHongShu and TikTok algorithms in 2026 (not 2023).
  • You've worked in a small team before, or run your own thing. You know how to make progress without a 10-person marketing department.
  • You have opinions — and can explain why a hook works or a post flopped without hand-waving at "the algorithm".
  • You've done B2B or SMB content before, or you're hungry to learn it. (Consumer-only backgrounds are fine if you understand the shift.)

Nice to have

  • Experience with long-form YouTube — thumbnails, retention curves, series planning.
  • A network of Malaysian creators, editors, or motion designers you can call on.
  • Comfort on camera yourself — not required, but useful for quick turnaround.
  • Working knowledge of Malaysian tax / LHDN basics, or willingness to learn enough to not misinform.

What we offer

  • Competitive Malaysian market pay, plus a real production budget you help plan.
  • Work from home between shoots. Selangor public holidays.
  • A kit budget — camera, mic, lighting, editing rig, software licences. You tell us what you need.
  • A freelance roster you help hire — editor, motion designer, translator, influencer partners.
  • Weekly time with the founder to review what worked and where to push next.
  • Early ownership of a brand that hasn't been over-designed yet. Your fingerprints will be visible.
